Brick Fiesta 2019

In early July, 26 members of Houston Brick Club went to Austin to participate in the 9th annual Brick Fiesta convention.  The first two days of this event consist of games and activities for the convention members, as well as time spend setting up MOCs.  On Saturday and Sunday the exhibition hall was open to the public to show off the hundreds of custom models on display.

Some of the highlights of the show included:

  • Keynote address by Josh and John Hanlon of Beyond the Brick.
  • Castle Lionheart – a very large MOC with fully detailed interior and exterior;  the owners also ran games of Dungeons and Dragons using their model.
  • 10′ long Classic Space display
  • 8′ long model of the Texas State Capitol built by TexLUG members.
  • Huge detailed train and town layout by Texas Brick Railroad.
  • Charity Auction that raised money for the local children’s hospital;  the item bringing the highest bid was a model of Notre Dame Cathedral designed by Alice Finch and built by Houston Brick Club members.
  • Toy Drive that collected many new LEGO(R) sets for the children’s hospital
  • Largest attendance of any Brick Fiesta convention so far.
  • 6 awards won by Houston Brick Club members.
